4 engines at $99 vs 5 engines at $29

Semrush AI Visibility is $99 a month per domain. AI Radar is $29 and adds Claude.

Semrush sells AI visibility standalone at $99/mo per domain billed annually, tracking ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity, and Gemini. Claude is not on that list. WhyIQ AI Radar is a dedicated AI citation monitor at $29/mo billed monthly, tracking those engines plus Claude, with a 3-pass confidence band on the Agency tier so a weekly reading is a sample rather than a single coin flip.

This is not a “replace Semrush” page. Semrush owns keyword research, backlinks, rank tracking, and site audits, and AI Radar does none of that. If you bought Semrush for SEO tooling, keep it. The comparison worth making is the narrow one: which tool measures AI citation better, and at what price.

Semrush also bundles AI visibility into its suite plans (SEO $139/mo, Starter $199/mo, Pro+ $299/mo, Advanced $549/mo, lower when billed annually), where Starter tracks 50 prompts daily on 1 domain and Advanced tracks 200. The standalone $99 per domain figure is the like-for-like comparison for a buyer who wants AI citation monitoring on its own.

Where AI Radar is the better tool

Four differences on the citation-monitoring job

Semrush AI Visibility is a capable tracker inside a much larger product. On the narrow job of measuring AI citation, these are the four places the dedicated tool wins.

The Claude blind spot

Semrush's own documentation lists the tracked platforms as Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini. Claude is not on that list. Claude retrieves through a different index to the one ChatGPT and Google use, so a brand can look healthy on four engines and be invisible on the fifth. AI Radar tracks all five, including on the free check.

The per-domain multiplier

The standalone Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit is $99 per month per domain, billed annually. An agency with five clients is at $495 per month on a year commitment, before seats and report add-ons. AI Radar Agency is $149 per month with one client included and $49 per client after that, so five clients is $345 per month, billed monthly.

Daily single-pass versus weekly 3-pass

AirOps measured in 2026 that only about 30 percent of brands stay visible from one AI answer to the next, and about 20 percent hold across five runs of the same prompt. Querying once a day and reporting the result samples that noise. AI Radar Agency runs 40 prompts across 5 engines at 3 passes weekly, which is 600 real AI queries per client, and reports the average as a confidence band.

Page-level citation attribution

When an engine cites your domain, AI Radar's query bank carries the intended target page for each prompt and flags whether the engine landed on it (a full win) or on a different page (a partial win). Most AI visibility tools report the domain-level mention and stop there, which hides the case where you are cited but the wrong page is doing the work.

Honest about limits

What WhyIQ AI Radar does not replace

Semrush is one of the largest SEO platforms in the world and AI Radar competes with a single feature of it. Most Semrush customers should keep Semrush and add the citation layer, not swap one for the other.

Keyword research, the backlink index, and rank tracking. Semrush's core SEO suite has no equivalent in AI Radar

Site audits and technical SEO crawling at Semrush's scale

PPC and advertising research, competitor traffic analytics, and the content marketing platform

Local listing management and social media tooling

Teams already standardised on Semrush projects, reporting, and API integrations

When each is the right call

Use AI Radar when

  • AI citation monitoring is the specific job you are buying for, not a feature of a suite
  • Claude coverage matters and you do not want a blind spot on the fifth engine
  • You want monthly billing rather than an annual commitment to reach the headline price
  • You run several client domains and per-domain pricing multiplies faster than you grow
  • Daily single-pass readings feel like noise and you want a 3-pass confidence band
  • You need a white-label weekly client report and PDF without per-report add-on fees
  • You already use WhyIQ Scanner and want the citation product on the same account

Use Semrush when

  • You need keyword research, backlinks, rank tracking, and site audits in one platform
  • Your team already lives in Semrush and consolidation beats best-of-breed
  • You want AI visibility inside the same dashboard as classic SEO reporting
  • You need 100 to 200 tracked prompts daily, which their Pro+ and Advanced tiers cover
  • You need enterprise multi-brand, multi-region, or large-scale crawling

The most common answer is both. Semrush for the SEO programme, AI Radar for the weekly citation read your client asks about. More on why the cadence differs in weekly versus daily AI citation tracking.
